Al Bundy

Al Bundy, Beloved Character from 'Married with Children,' Passes Away

Passing of a Television Icon

Al Bundy, the patriarch of the Bundy family in the iconic television series 'Married with Children,' passed away this morning at the age of 68. Ed O'Neill, who played Bundy for eleven seasons, confirmed the news on social media.

A Comedy Legend

Bundy was known for his misogyny, blue-collar humor, and love of beer. He worked as a women's shoe salesman and often bragged about his glory days as a high school football player, despite only being briefly famous for scoring a touchdown in a meaningless game.

The character's arrogance and sexism were played for laughs, but Bundy also had a soft side for his family. He was often the butt of jokes, but he always loved his wife, Peg, and children, Kelly and Bud.

O'Neill's portrayal of Bundy earned him multiple award nominations and made him a household name. The actor said in a statement that he was "heartbroken" over Bundy's passing but that he would always cherish the memories of playing the beloved character.
